Let’s Make Post Ramadan Resolution To Become Better Muslim.

Nadia Ahmed May 30, 2020

Ramadan is a time of fasting and the time we all did good deeds in abundance. Praying five times, nafl salah & Quran was a top priority on our to-do list. We watched our speech when we spoke to others. But that scenario changes slowly after Ramadan but we can continue what we did by taking up some post-Ramadan resolutions.

With Ramadan gone, Shaytan is fully armed to drag us back to the dark side by its evil whispers. We have to fight the evil whispers of the shaytans and continue all that we did in the holy month.

“[Satan], said ‘because you have put me in error,I will surely sit in wait for them on your straight path. Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and you will not find most of them grateful [to you].'”

  – Quran, (7:16-17)

Restoring our Iman is necessary, not just for a single month but for the rest of our lives. And to do that lets take up post Ramadan resolution, follow it & fight off the evil urges.

#Ramadan Resolution 1 – “I will never miss salah and pray it on time”

After Ramadan, many of us become ignorant of our salah. Fajr salah is the most missed salah by us. Praying five times a day is one of the pillar of our faith. Missing your salah will lead to the worst kind of punishment in the grave and in hell. It also take away your iman and barakah from life. Apart from not missing salah, one of the important things to remember is to pray on time.

“Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little”

Quran (4:142)

This ayah describes the people who are hypocrites who delay their prayers. They pray for the sake of people like when their parents tell them and just get done with it. There is no interest in the prayer.

The act of offering salah is fardh for every muslim & praying on time is equally important. So, let’s pray within half an hour of the call for prayer focusing on our words. And standing like we are in front of our rabb.

Praying to Allah(SWt) helps us stay connected to him & make our iman strong. May Allah give us hidayah.

#Ramadan Resolutions 2 – “I will read quran daily even if its a single verse”

The Quran was sent as a mercy to mankind. It was a part of our daily routine in Ramadan. Post-Ramadan we put it a shelf and it collects dust till the next Ramadan. Let’s make Quran a part of our daily life and learn what Allah(SWT) has commanded us.

Allah (SWT) speaks to us through this holy book. It gives a solution to almost all the problems we face in day to day life.  Let’s make a habit of reading atleast 1-2 pages of Quran daily whenever we get time. Read it after fajr or before going to bed or whenever we get time.

The Prophet(PBUH) Said : “The book of Allah contains right guidance, the light, and whoever adheres to it and holds it fast, he is upon right guidance and whosoever deviates from it goes astray.”

Sahih Muslim 2408

#Ramadan Resolution 3 – “I will resist from backbiting and abusive words”

Backbiting is the worst and the most common sin that Muslim commits especially women. It’s a sin that have a grave punishment in the hereafter.

“O you who believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backfire each other. Would one of you would like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; Indeed,Allah is accepting of repentance and merciful.”

 Quran (49:12)

Whenever you get an urge to talk something bad about someone then try to remember this ayah and lock your tongue. Even when a person is talking bad about someone to you, stop him/her. Tell them you don’t want to listen to it.

Apart from backbiting, other sin that is committed by tongue is using abusive words. Using such and such words have become a norm among the youths. Using the “f” word has become a part of slang which they think is cool.

Even if your angry, resist yourself from using cursing words. Besides when you are angry, either do wudu, sit down if your standing, lie down if your sitting as we learn from a hadith

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to us, “If one of you is angry while he is standing, let him sit down so his anger will leave him; otherwise, let him lie down.”

 Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4782

instead, when you are angry, say “Aouzu Billa Hi Minash Shaytan Nir Rajeem” or “Astagfirullah”,or just be kind. Being kind to others is what our beloved prophet has taught us. This will help you gain respect in the world and the hereafter.

#Ramadan Resolution 4 – “I will do charity everyday even its one penny”

Giving zakat is a fardh during Ramadan. It is a way to help a needy. Charity doesnt just mean giving money, we can give food, clothing or just a simple smile. Flashing our beautiful smile to someone is also considered a charity. Subhan Allah.

Let’s make charity a part of your life by giving a penny or food to the homeless. Or if we can afford more, sponsor education for an orphan child. Our beloved prophet treated the orphans with kindness. We can also donate to an NGO or an old-age home.

The prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said : “The believers shade on the day of resurrection will be his charity”

 Al tirmidhi.

Giving charity will in turn give barakah in our wealth and not reduce it.

#Ramadan Resolution 5 – “I will cut off ties from a haram relationship”

This is a grave sin which almost every person is in today’s times is commiting. It is the biggest trick of shaytan which will lead to bigger sins. Just a simple ‘HI’ from a stranger on Instagram will slowly lead to phone calls then going on dates then finally zina.

If you are in such a relationship with a person, this is the time to cut off all the ties with that person. Not even a text. Being in such a relationship will take you away from Allah & turn your heart black til there is no iman left.

If you really feel that person is the one you want to get married to, then do it in a halal way. Tell your parents about that person and get married.

Making these simple resolutions can make our life much better. We can gain worldly rewards as well as rewards that will help us in our grave.

May Allah (swt) help us stay on the right path. Ameen.
