London Fashion Week 2024 saw a fantastic launch of Sabirah – a luxury modest-wear brand by stylist and creative director Deborah Latouche. Sabirah’s Collection 1. 7, presented in the well-known Somerset House, delivered a modern and rather glamorous take on modest dressing while benignity.

A Tribute to Dominique Devereux

Dominique Devereux was one of the most outstanding socialites of the Roaring Twenties and the over-the-top glamorous girl. Sabirah’s latest collection has been loosely based on Dominique Devereux, the strong, and attractive woman from the program Dynasty of the 1980s. The character Devereux played by Diahann Carroll demonstrated the beginning of the dreams of women of color in the entertainment business. This is apparent in the tastefully carried color palette of the collection as well as the dramatic silhouettes inspired by Devereux’s influence as admired by Latouche.

Exquisite Tailoring and the Luxurious Fabrics

The collection consists of exquisite pieces of clothing, produced using materials made from luxury end-of-life fabrics from Italy. Wools, silks crepe, double silks, satin, and other similar fabrics for instance are turned into elegant wear that exudes opulence and sophistication. One standout piece is the sharp, voluminous Fan Coat, constructed with 15 meters of netting to maintain its structure.

Palette of Elegance

Sabirah’s Collection 1. 7 is different in color combination of peaches, creams, tobacco, silver, and gold projecting a very elegant and rich feeling. These colors are accompanied by antique jewels and other retro accessories to lend a touch of retro glamour to the modern creations. This is complemented by Piers Atkinson’s pink-feathered hat and lace eyepiece That adds a more vintage allure.

Celebrating Diversity and Empowerment

The fashion show was not only Sabirah’s first time at London Fashion Week. It had also a powerful message of diversity and rights of women. There is a promise of elevating all women of all sizes, all races, and all religions. Fashion also became a platform through which it was possible to demonstrate that women do not have to undress to look glamour, elegance and chic, on the runway.

Sabirah’s bold debut at London Fashion Week 2024 has set a new standard for modest fashion. With its exquisite tailoring, luxurious fabric, Sabirah has proven that modest wear can be both elegant and empowering. Deborah Latouche’s vision for Sabirah is a testament to the power of fashion to celebrate diversity and inspire confidence in all women.
